TIPS TO HELP YOU KEEP YOUR RESOLUTIONS
We are heading towards the end of
January. It’s almost the time when sticking to your New Year resolutions is
getting tougher. How are you doing with your new year’s resolutions? We begin
to fall into previous patterns and the results we were hoping to see haven’t
quite shown up yet. Do not panic yet, here are a few tips to make sure you
power through and reach your goals.
TIP 1: NOTE them DOWN
Statistics have shown that
people who write down their resolutions are ten times more likely to achieve
them. So, pull out those post-its and note down your goals for this year and
stick them where you can see it. This will be a constant reminder for you to
work on. It is a sure shot way to ensure you follow your resolutions through.
TIP 2: MOTIVATE YOURSELF EVERYDAY
You can do it. Now,
you only must remind yourself every now and then that you can. Develop the
habit of affirming your strength, willpower and discipline. This will keep you
motivated and help you get what you wanted. Wake up each day, head to a mirror
and tell yourself that you can do it. Then get to it.
TIP 3: ANSWER TO SOMEONE
With all the
willpower and fortitude, we can all ultimately talk ourselves in or out of
almost anything. Suddenly, that goal of getting a six pack begins to feel
pointless. Or you realize you were crazy to think you could go to your gym
after work. One way to make sure you meet your goals is to have someone hold
you accountable. Tell your bestie or a sibling about your resolution. Then ask
them to check in with you regularly on the progress you’ve made. Better yet,
find a friend who has a similar resolution and hold each other accountable.
TIP 4: REWARD YOURSELF
You know that old phrase
of dangling a carrot out in front of a horse? Turns out, it works. What will
motivate you? Maybe it’s a new water bottle to take with you to
the gym. Now set a goal you need to accomplish in order to receive that reward.
And then celebrate your success.
